Week of September 7th

What a great start to a great new school year!  I have some amazing little kiddos in my room.  I am very blessed.  I want to thank each and everyone of you for sharing your beautiful and amazing children with me this year.

Just a few things I want to let you guys know about.  We will be having Parent Orientation on the 15th from 6:00-7:00.  This is a really important time to get to know me and what goes on in our classroom.  I hope to see all of you there!  If your child wants to bring a water bottle, or a container full of water that can be completely closed off, it is fine with me.  This can sometimes cut down on a little of the sharing of germs!

Spelling words for last week and this week are: it, in, the, a, and, is, that, of, to, do.  We will have a spelling test next Tuesday over these words.

Math:  We are working on greater than and less than, number sense, and addition word problems.  It is always good to have them add sets of anything and write a number sentence to go along with it.  We have worked on drawing pictures and tens frames as a resource so far.  We will be adding to those resources each week.

Writing:  We started writers workshop this week and they are doing really good.  We have talked about what makes a good Author.  During this time they can write about anything they want.  We will continue to talk about what a good sentence looks like and what makes a good story.

Social Studies:  We are doing a Kevin Henkes book study.  We are learning about manners, good citizenship, and sharing.

Hope your kiddos have had as much fun as I have these last two weeks.  I hope to get research and Science set up soon.
