I hope everyone had a great weekend with their friends and families. I wanted to thank everyone that came to Parent Orientation. I hope you got some helpful information on how our classroom works. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns.
The next two weeks at a glance.
Spelling words; he, for, was, on, are, as, with, his, they, at. Please know that we go over 5 words a week. So this week we will work on he, for, was, on, are: next week we will work on as, with, his, they, and at. We only take spelling test every two weeks and your child will always bring home a spelling preview the day before we take a test. I do not introduce new words the week of a test because I use the test to focus on words that are giving them trouble. We play games with them and really focus on a few words for the rest of the week.
Math: We are still working on problem solving, adding sets of numbers together, and greater than less than and equal to. Word problems seem to be difficult right now but we do one every morning together so hopefully that will start to improve!
Science/Social Studies: This week we are learning about our 5 senses and will have our first real research station next week that will include a science experiment with our 5 senses.
Writing: We are still just learning how to get our thoughts down on paper and what makes a good sentence. Penmanship will also be a huge focus!
I am loving these kiddos and feel so blessed to be called their teacher. Thank you so much for sharing these awesome First Graders with me!
