First of all THANK YOU for all of my sweet Valentine’s Day gifts. Y’all definitely spoil me! It was a great party and the kids had a blast!
Spelling words for the next two weeks are: no, make, than, first, been, its, who, now, people, my
Phonics: We are learning about antonyms and synonyms over the next two weeks. I love teaching these and watching the kiddos light bulb moments.
Math: Patterns in numbers is our main focus with coins and time to the hour and half hour. The kiddos are really starting to pick up on the coins but I would love for y’all to just keep letting them count a combination of coins with you. In First Grade we don’t have to count mixed combinations with anything other than pennies. (In other words nickels/pennies, dimes/pennies, quarters/pennies) Half hour always stumps them a little just knowing what hour it is.
Writing: We are still working on beginning, middle, and end with adding adjectives and details. We are also working on stretching the word out listening and writing every sound we hear.
Science/Social Studies: February is a BIG month for Social Studies! We learned about Martin Luther King Jr. We are learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and next week will be Dental Health Awareness.
These kiddos blow me away daily!!! As always, contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have!
